KRAIT PHANTOM

Applications

The Krait Phantom is one of the best all-rounders, suitable for almost any activity but more specialized on exploration, where it is one of the best ships[k]. However, its trading capabilities remain average - specialised trade ships are much better suited. The Krait Phantom's armour remains at an average level and is inferior to the Krait Mk II, its armament is also much weaker - this is only partially offset by its greater manoeuvrability and speed. Based on the above, the Krait Phantom is not suitable for wing missions, and in high combat areas it requires good pilot skills. It is the most maneuverable of the general purpose craft though.

Combat Capabilities

Its combat capabilities are quite limited. It is inferior to larger ships, as well as the Krait Mk II and Python in terms of weapons and armor. That said, it has high maneuverability and speed, and its excellent thermal efficiency allows it to fire its multi-armor, engineer-enhanced weapons or beam lasers with almost no fear of overheating. One of the fastest ships in the game (on afterburner too) using Engineers, second only to the Imperial Clipper and Mamba. Despite its size, it is extremely maneuverable and can install heavy modules without any significant speed loss. The best tactic for him is a "hit and bounce", as the hull lacks the strength.

Strengths and weaknesses
Strengths
+ Not a bad all-purpose ship but more designed for research, landings, passenger transports, and asteroid mining rather than combat.
+ Good speed.
+ High maneuverability.
+ One of the best for VIP and criminal transport missions as she's cold enough.
+ Specialized for use as an explorer. Even the Diamondback Explorer excels at this because it can be equipped with a fast fuel intake, shields, and other equipment, and can make landings at outposts, while being slightly inferior in leapfrog range.
Disadvantages
- Slightly inferior to the Krait Mk II in terms of cargo volume.
- Largely inferior to the Krait Mk II in combat capabilities and unsuitable for fighting tough opponents. For all its claimed versatility, it is not a combat ship, but rather a pirate ship.
- It can be difficult to land on some research pads, unlike the smaller exploration ships it is capable of.
